Migrating from Arch Linux to OpenSUSE: A New Perspective

OpenSUSE Linux Distro

As a long-time Linux user, I have always enjoyed the freedom this operating system provides. However, as time passes, needs and priorities change. For many years I have used Arch Linux , a distribution that fully introduces you to the world of control and customization. If you are not familiar with Arch, it is known for requiring the user to be fully responsible for the system – from installation to configuration of all components. This DIY philosophy is what appeals to many, including myself.

Arch Install Made Easy: Archinstall Guide

Arch Linux installation, guides, reviews

Instructions for installing ArchLinux using the installation script ArchFi (and then ArchDi) is the first in a series of texts dedicated to the comparison of different ways of installing the ArchLinux distribution. This text is also an installation guide, but using the officially supported script – Archinstall. I will refrain from giving too many impressions, that remains for the third and last text in this area. I’ll just say that it’s a much simpler way to install ArchLinux and a minimal desktop environment offered from the list.

Arch Linux Install: ArchFi Makes it Easy

Arch Linux installation, guides, reviews

It’s been a while since my last guide for installing ArchLinux article that covered the classic installation method (reading the documentation and typing command by command until you get to a working system). The following is a new one that will describe how to install this popular Linux distribution, using the Archfi installation script, I mentioned earlier. This text will be part of a trilogy that will consist of: Archfi script, Archinstal script and finally their comparison. Somehow, it just happened that a few days ago, a new version of the Archfi script was released after less than a year and a half, so let’s see how it all works (and it works 🙂 ).

How to Network Two Computers Under Linux

De-Google your phone and enjoy freedom

I also dealt a little with this topic, I went into the administrator’s waters and looked for a way to network two machines under (Arch) Linux in the simplest way, in order to easily transfer a bunch of data that I need from time to time, and what I allowed myself was fast backups. This is important because I am often do a little distro hopping. One thing is for sure, I always come back to Arch Linux!

Boost Performance on ArchLinux – HDD tricks

Arch Linux installation, guides, reviews

ArchLinux as a distro gives quite a lot of freedom to the end user to configure the entire system. Starting with the installation that is done from the console (there are TUI and GUI variants, but I’m talking about the basic one), through the post-installation procedure, the user has to adjust everything himself in order to have a functional system, working environment, etc. In this text, I will mention one item, and that is improving the performance of classic hard drivesI will have to quote and publish one by one, because one text cannot cover everything.

Install ArchLinux in 50 Easy Steps

Arch Linux installation, guides, reviews

The migration from the old to the new computer took me a long time, but it also enabled me to write this text – how to manually install ArchLinux. I need a reminder when an accident happens, and it can help someone. When you read “50” steps, it may scare someone, but if you know how to work in the console, there will be no problems. This way of installation can be fun, not to mention that “I am God!” moment and of course bragging in front of a clumsy neighbors that doesn’t even know what Linux is, not to mention the console and all commands you type. They’ll just think you invented the Matrix. This brings with it some bad things, they will ask you to fix their computer. When I say this it means that they will call you for every little thing. The warning is there, the good sides as well, so let me start with the list.

Archfi: The Arch Way TUI Installer Guide

Arch Linux installation, guides, reviews

I continue the story about Linux, in fact about ArchLinux to be more precise. I have already mentioned that it is a distribution for enthusiasts and certainly for those with a little more experience. When I mention experience, it means a good knowledge of console work, directory structure, partitioning, in fact the entire Linux ecosystem. In this text, I will write about a script that makes it easier to install ArchLinux. It’s called Archfi and basicаlly is a TUI installer.

By The Way, I Use Arch Linux With Ease!

Arch Linux installation, guides, reviews

It’s been a long time since I became a GNU / Linux user, which I’m proud of! I tried it out of curiosity , and now I can’t imagine everyday life without it. It’s one of those things that gets under your skin and there’s no going back! Profesionally or when they make me I use the other OS, but the love and affection to Linux is stronger than anything. Probably that’s why I write about it and always emphasize it. I’ve used a number of distributions so far, some just a few minutes, while others for years. The distro I use the longest and to whom I like to return after an experiment is ArchLinux, so I can afford to say that famous sentence – By the way, I use Arch Linux!
